Every agent who has lost a deal to slow follow-up eventually prices out an inside sales agent. Then the sticker shock of an in-house hire kills the idea for another year. Here is what an ISA really costs both ways, and the break-even math that decides it.

The in-house ISA: full cost

Typical US numbers for a dedicated in-house ISA:

  • Base pay: commonly $35,000 to $50,000 a year, before bonuses per appointment or per closing.
  • Payroll taxes and benefits: add roughly 20 to 30% on top of base.
  • Tools and desk: dialer, CRM seat, equipment, office space.
  • Your management time: hiring, scripting, coaching, and quality control, which lands on you or your team lead.
  • Turnover risk: ISA roles churn notoriously fast, and every departure restarts the hiring and training clock.

All-in, a productive in-house ISA typically costs $4,000 to $6,000+ a month, and takes months to hire and ramp.

The outsourced dedicated ISA

A dedicated, managed ISA working your hours from offshore typically runs about $1,500 a month flat. Same core work: speed-to-lead calling, long-term nurture, appointment setting, CRM logging. The provider carries recruiting, training, supervision, and a backup when your caller is out. What you give up is physical presence in your office, which for a phone-based role costs you nothing.

The break-even math

Take your average commission per closing. Suppose it is $8,000. A dedicated ISA at $1,500 a month costs $18,000 a year. If systematic follow-up produces just three extra closings a year, the seat pays for itself with room to spare, and most teams that finally work their whole database find considerably more than that hiding in it. Speed matters too: online leads convert dramatically better when they are called within minutes, which is precisely what a dedicated caller exists to do.

When in-house still wins

High-volume teams running multiple ISAs with a full-time sales manager can justify in-house economics and culture. For solo agents and small teams, the flat-rate dedicated model gets you the same calls at a third of the cost, without becoming a call-center manager.
